Description

Hiya folks!

I Finally got this all done! :faint:
So this is my APH OC/FC Antarctica! :heart:
God I love him!

I had trouble fitting all the research I did into a few paragraphs. Antarctica's history is long if you count all the way back to his separation from Gondwana. That's about 25 Million Years!?!?! BUT MY OC IS EVEN OLDER THEN THAT!!!! WHAT?!?!?!

Lol any way here's the info:

Representing Continent: Antarctica
Human Name: Terrence Antarktikos {literally meaning “Earth, opposite to the Arctic”}
Gender: Male
Age: 570 Million {Appearance 26}
Language: Speaks several, depending on who he’s talking to, can also understand the animals.
Birthday: January 27th
Height: 6’ 4” | 193.04 cm
Weight: 137 lbs | 62.14 kg

Economy: There is no economic activity in Antarctica presently, save fishing off the coast and small-scale tourism, both based outside Antarctica. He dose have currency, however, it is only a souvenir item sold in the U.S. and Canada, and is not legal tender.

Population: Antarctica has no permanent population to speak of, but he has 1000 to 5000 researchers coming on and off his land throughout the year. The majority coming during the summer months.

Family: North America {older sister}, South America {older brother}, Africa {older brother}, Europe {younger sister}, Asia {older brother}, Australia {The Continent, the not country} {younger brother}, Gondwana {older brother}, Laurasia {older sister}, The North Pole/Arctic Circle {Younger/Baby Sister}and Pangaea {mother}.

Friends: He believes everyone is his friend.

Enemies/Unfriendly: VOID - See above…

Personality: Due to 25 million years of isolation, Antarctica has gone completely insane. When other nations visit him to do research, he tends to become very clingy towards them, and doesn’t leave them alone. This is due to the eons of loneliness he had to endure. Also, because of his solitude, he talks to just about everything, even if it isn’t alive. He believes whatever he talks to, talks back to him.
Because he’s very durable and strong, he has a habit of doing things that are considered life threatening to the other nations {For instance, he once dove into a hole in the ice, stayed down in the water for 3 hours and popped back up with a live seal, without clothes on}, but he considers it to be an everyday chore. This unfortunately, drives the other nations further away from him.
He has a very forgiving personality, forgiving people for really anything because he’s afraid of loosing friends. However, this causes others to feel extreme guilt because it really was their fault and not his. He hardly eats, and when he does he feels very guilty after words, because he usually has to eat an animal, which he considers his friends.
Antarctica is usually very happy and optimistic, save guilt trips. However, he has his sane moments. He knows just how dangerous his land can be, but even if he’s serious, he’ll still have a calm smile on his face.

History: Antarctica will tell people that he’s been around for a much longer time then the nations. He claims to have lived with his Mama Pangaea and his other 8 siblings nearly 570 million years ago, when his land was apart of the super continent. When he was a child, he would get intense fevers that would cause him to be bed ridden. His mother, who was always concerned for her children, figured out a way to finally cure him of his fevers. She sent him off to bed one day, to take a nap. Then when he finally woke up, he discovered that he was bigger, older, and his home was covered in ice. Oh and he was completely isolated from everyone else. For the next 25 million years or so, the loneliness consumed him, and he turned insane. If it wasn’t for the animals that eventually evolved or arrived to the continent, who knows what would have happened.
After that, it seems the other nations take over Antarctica’s history. Since the time of Ancient Greece, Antarctica was thought of as a massive fabled continent that balanced out the world’s northern land masses. He was originally called Terra Australis. Then when explorers discovered South America and Australia, many people believed that he didn’t exist. The hypothesis was proven further when James Cook sailed into the Arctic Circle in 1773, and did not see Antarctica’s shore line. It wasn’t until the early 1800’s was the fabled continent even seen.
The first confirmed sighting of the icy continent is generally accepted as January 27th, 1820, by a Russian expedition team. Then three days later by a Royal Navy boat. They say that the first documented landing of Antarctica’s land was in 1821 by an American sealer in West Antarctica, but most scholars dispute this claim, and Antarctica said he wasn’t there when the acclaimed landing happened. In the next 150 years or so, expeditions to the continent grew exponentially, and in 1911, England and Norway raced to the South Pole. Norway’s team reached their first, then a month later England’s. However England’s team perished on the way back. Most of the exploration was done to conduct research. America was the first to set up a permanent base at the South Pole, in 1956. Soon many other nations followed suit to set up permanent research stations and bases in Antarctica. And in 1959 the Antarctic Treaty was signed on December 1st, which limited military activity on Antarctica to support scientific research. Today over 48 nations recognize the treaty and participate in the yearly meetings to talk about and revise the treaty. Antarctica was also split up into territories, which 8 countries claim. There are 5 nations, however, that wish to have territorial claim, but the treaty dose not allow them at this time. In 1985 a hole in the ozone layer above Antarctica was discovered. However most nations didn’t concern themselves too much about it, until September 2006, when the hole covered the entire continent, causing Antarctica to become sick, which in turn caused most of the nations to panic. The other nations are now trying to become greener {out of guilt}, in order to help Antarctica get better.
Now a days Antarctica is usually seen bugging the researchers, or attending environmental meetings every year. He can also be seen hanging out with the different animals that call his land home. Some nations even see him swimming in the waters or just walking around on the frozen tundra.

Facts:

· 98% of the continent is covered in ice, which Antarctica learned how to glide across like he was ice scatting.
· Antarctica is the coldest, driest, and windiest continent on Earth, and he feels very comfortable in that environment.
· The lowest natural temperature was recorded at -89.2 ˚C {-128.6 ˚F} in Antarctica. He said it was a kiss from his Mama Pangaea.
· Even though he doesn’t get a lot of precipitation, Antarctica holds over 70% of the worlds fresh water, and 90% of the world’s ice.
· Antarctica also has the highest elevation of any other continent, therefore he’s very tall.
· Antarctica’s cow lick represents the Antarctic Peninsula.
· Antarctica typically calls the animals generic names. He says the animals tell him their names, but the other nations don’t believe him.
· In 2004, Russia opened an Orthodox church, which is the only church in Antarctica, which Antarctica likes to visit every once in a while.
· Antarctica was taught by his mother before she broke apart, and therefore, only knows so much of what he taught her.
· Due to that, Antarctica has a tendency to call things he doesn’t know, by what he already knows. {for instance, he calls to Ocean, “Really Big Tear Lake”, because of the Ocean’s salt consistency and the fact that he knows what a lake is, but not the ocean.}
· The other nations have been trying to teach him about things his mother couldn’t. However he still has nicknames for everything.
· Antarctica really likes the penguins.
· Most of the animals are really annoyed by him.
· Antarctica considers Russia to be his “bestest” friend, because Russia was the first to see him and talk to him.
· When Antarctica was found, he was naked. Russia gave him the clothes he wears now, and a Polar bear skin, which he uses for hunting.
· Antarctica never get’s angry…EVER!
· When Antarctica leave’s his land, he will start to get his fevers again. He can only last for about 2 weeks outside his home. However bringing him to the North Pole will give him another couple of months or so, before he has to head back.
· Antarctica typically wears sorts and a tank top when going outside his land. He also caries a Japanese fan with him to keep cool.
· Another reason for Antarctica’s insanity is his description of the midnight sun and the polar night. Which, unfortunately cause him to loose track of overall time.
· Antarctica really loves babies, whether it’s human or animal, he enjoys seeing new life being born in his land.
· :star:New!:star: Most of Antarctica's siblings have disappeared and are no longer around. There is only one that he knows of and she was born just after the separation of his Mama Pangea.
· :star:New!:star: The only sibling of Antarctica's that still around is his baby sister Arctic, who represents the Arctic Circle.

:phew: I spent a month researching and typing. It's nice to finally be done and over with.
I would also like to add that most Antarctica OCs for the Hetalia fandom actually don't have the right flag on their CSs.
Antarctica technically doesn't have an official flag. The ones that have been mistaken for it's "official" flag, were actually flag designs that have been proposed. However, the Antarctic Treaty Organization did adopt a flag to represent their organization, and to symbolize the continent overall. The flag of the Antarctic Treaty is in the CS above.
So I don't wana hear, "That's not the flag of Antarctica!" because it technically is. So... *Sticks tongue out* Naw! Lol

I hope you like this, I really enjoyed coloring it. Also I'd like to know what you think about the CS overall please. I just want some feed back is all, like, is it too long, is it messy, is it well researched, that sorta stuff. Thanks~

Wow, you really spent a long time on your OC... I spent barely any time typing mine, but that's because I was busy perfecting her in my mind since I first created her... You know, for a while I thought I was the only person who had made an Antarctica for Hetalia. Great job on this!
It's nice to meet a fellow Antarctican!
